I had to struggle on up this hill. A slope like this, with a load like mine, was really hard work. The scenery, though, was magnificent. Mountains pressed in. Sheep dotted th landscape. They looked like gomashio (sesame seed salt) spread over the mountains. I climbed unsteadily onto the stone wall beside the road, which looked like the Great Wall in miniature. The hill I was climbing reached a summit at 1,450m, just at the border with Inner Mongolia. (from "Against the Wind" - Poolbeg Press)
